KATTEPONGALI

INGREDIENTS:

  1. Rice-2 cups

  2. Moongdal/pesar pappu-1 cup

  3. Ghee-3 tablespoons

  4. Sugar-1/4 Th teaspoon

  5. Chopped ginger-1/2 teaspoon

  6. Cashewnuts fried-1 tablespoon

  7. Jeera powder-1/4Th teaspoon

  8. Salt-to taste

  9. Pepper/miriyalu-8

  10. Pepper powder-1/8Th teaspoon

  11. Jeera-2 spoons

METHOD:



  • Cook rice and moongdal together by adding 6 1/2 cups of water,add more if u want more liquid consistency.,when water starts boiling,take 1 cup from that and keep a side,then cook rice for 15 minutes on low flame.

  • Now take a deep bottomed pan,add ghee,when it heats add pepper,jeera,ginger,cashews,jeera powder and pepper powder.,fry well,now add the 1 cup of water which we put a side,now add the rice,and salt ,cook for few minutes.Serve hot.
